Clinical outcome data: (1999-2006) 4 patients relapsed out of 120 patients. Out of the relapsed patients 2 patients underwent Salvage surgical prostatectomy successfully.

One-stop Joint Urology Radiotherapy Clinic where the patient meets all members of the BXT Team together for an open discussion and if suitable, the patient date is booked. The nursing team can be contacted directly by telephone by patients for guidance and advice. Prostate volume reduction can be offered selectively, medically or surgically, in order to maximise the opportunity to patients who wish to pursue brachytherapy as their chosen therapeutic treatment modality.

All brachytherapy patients are entered onto an in-house database recording post implant dosimetry, toxicity and PSA outcome. In addition all LDR brachytherapy patients are entered onto a large UK multi-institutional database which collects data from Leeds, Mount Vernon and Christie (>2000 patients registered)

The multi-institutional database which is managed at Christie permits easy comparison of outcome between the centres.

The Christie have introduced a single fraction HDR boost treatment into the UK offering greater convenience to the patient.
