Welcome to the Prostate Brachytherapy Advisory Group website

What is LDR prostate brachytherapy , Patient selection , Clinical results , Patient benefits

Prostatebrachytherapyinfo.net was created by the Prostate Brachytherapy Advisory Group to provide comprehensive and current information on prostate brachytherapy to Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and patients, and practical resources to help decision making.

The Prostate Brachytherapy Advisory Group is dedicated to supporting universal access to high-quality low dose-rate (LDR) prostate brachytherapy for the treatment of localised prostate cancer in the UK and comprises a group of medical and NHS representatives with an active interest in the commissioning of services and the provision of care.

Our mission is to:

  • support the development of brachytherapy services nationally, and improve patient coverage by PCTs in line with Department of Health (DH) guidelines
  • optimise the use of services within radiotherapy centres currently performing brachytherapy including the commissioning of brachytherapy services by PCTs in areas without a local provider
  • promote best practice and evidence-based approaches taken from UK and international centres of excellence
  • improve the prostate cancer patient journey by increasing patients' understanding and helping them make informed treatment choices.

The activities of the Prostate Brachytherapy Advisory Group are supported through an unrestricted educational grant by Oncura.
